ITANAGAR, Apr 6: Mopin festival was celebrated with pomp and gaiety across the state.
At Aalo, the Mopin celebration was organized by Central Mopin Festival Committee at Donyi Polo Ground today.
Attending the festival, MLA Tani Loffa said that Galo and Apatani community inspired all other communities to take interest in their festivals and as a result of which festival revolution started soon in Arunachal Pradesh. He praised the Galo community for awakening all other tribes of Arunachal Pradesh by celebrating Mopin as community festival in 1966. Former MLA Kito Sora appealed to one all to donate voluntarily for preservation of Mopin festival.
Takar Goi, Chairman, All Arunachal Pradesh Transport Federation advocated for celebrating Mopin in line with Hornbill Festival of Nagaland so that the outsiders may get an opportunity to see the beauty of Mopin Popir.

Earlier, CMCC presidents Mijum Lona, in his address appealed all the people to take part in the celebration to get blessings of Anyi Pinku Pinte. The main attraction of the celebration was the Popir competition which was also participated by former MLAs Kento Ete and Kirge Ori.
Nyali Bagra, Secretary CMCC 2012 in a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister, who could not attend the festival due to unavoidable circumstances, urged him to fulfill the demands.
Yesterday, Galo New Year Day (April 5) was observed at Donyi Polo ground by the Galow Welfare Committee, West Siang unit.
Mopin was also celebrated at Bordumsa with great enthusiasm.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Tongko Singpho, Chairperson, Bordumsa Anchal Samity highly praised Galo and Adi community of the sub division in making the celebration a success and reminded the people that such cooperation was the need of the hour for the progress of Arunachal Pradesh inhabited by various tribes. “It is heartening to see people of different backgrounds together with such happiness and love for one another”, added Singpho.

ITANAGAR, Apr 6: St. Mary’s Catholic Church observed Good Friday by organizing ‘Way of the Cross’ procession along the road. Jesus carrying the Cross on his way to mount Calvary was enacted prayerfully by the Catholic youths of St. Mary’s Church.
More than thousand people participated in this devotional practice. Good Friday is a day where the Christian community remember the death of Jesus on the Cross who died to save the entire human family.
Orgs condemn Likabali incident, demands solution to boundary row
ITANAGAR, Apr 6: Several organizations of the state including Apex student body and the Bharatiya Janata Party Arunachal Pradesh condemned destruction of public properties inside Arunachal territory at Malini Mela, Likabali by Assam authorities yesterday.
Expressing strong resentment over such destructive activities, All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU) said “it is a slap on the face of Arunachal people.” The Union urged the state government to take up the matter seriously.
Report on boundary problem at Likabali came to limelight during last month but state Govt failed to take it up with Assam counterpart which resulted in such humiliation to people of Arunachal, AAPSU president Takam Tatung said in a release.
Expressing disappointment with the performance of Congress government in the state, the AAPSU said ever since the death of late CM Dorjee Khandu, the state has been plagued with problems. The Congress government has totally failed to tackle the decades’ long boundary dispute between Assam and Arunachal, it alleged, adding that ministers and party MLAs spend more time at Delhi than in Arunachal.

Most of the boundary disputes including the present one at Likabali are being incited by few persons from Assam with political motive, thereby jeopardizing the strong bond of friendship and brotherhood between the people of both the neighbouring states, the Union claimed while adding that such type of undesirable activities by Assam officials will also harm the interest of Assam citizens working in Arunachal.
Claiming that Assam people have imposed road blockade against Arunachal vehicles at Dhemaji town, AAPSU termed such unending road blockade on minor problems as an act against humanity and called for dialogue to solve the problem. The Union also called on the state Govt to explore the idea of opening border trade with China so that the people of the state need not depend on Assam.
Lambasting the Assam Govt for repeated harassment to Arunachalee people and destruction of their properties in boundary area, BJP said that such unprovoked action will not bring solutions, it will rather aggravate the situation in the long run.

The GHRO urged the Assam Govt. to respect the Supreme Court directives to maintain status quo in boundary issue and also demanded compensation to the people of Likabali area who lost their properties.
It further called on the State Govt. to initiate dialogue with its Assam counterpart for permanent solution to the vexed boundary issue and to protect life and properties of the Arunachalee people residing along boundary area. State home minister and director of state border affairs department should visit the affected area to take stock of the situation, it said.
While demanding establishment of a police check post at entry point of Likabali, the organization urged the state Govt to delegate more power to Likabali SDO to tackle such situation.
While expressing grave concern over the reported eviction drive carried out by Assam officials at Malini Mela complex, Likabali, the IYC Lok Sabha general secretary for Arunachal Eastern Parliament, Okom Tamuk said Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi is answerable to the people of Arunachal Pradesh for this “shocking act” and demanded immediate judicial inquiry into the matter by a team involving a Supreme Court judge.
“It was a crime of highest order ever taken place against the peace loving land of the country. This serious act against the humanity cannot be tolerated anymore. It was a total premeditated action of Assam officials,” he said.
The youth leader expressed surprise over the nature of the act saying “how a Assam govt official could come in wee hours (2.30 am) which is quite unusual time, reportedly tied up the night watchman and seized the mobile phone. The evictors took away 1500 CGI sheets, 50 plastic chairs and GI Pipes among others.”
Tamuk also demanded that Assam govt should register a case against the “erring” officials without any prejudice and urged for sending a team to probe into the ‘eviction’ issue seriously.
He further appealed to Assam govt not to repeat such act on neighbouring states for the cause of social upliftment and integrity.

Poultry production under TSP prog
ITANAGAR, Apr 6: ICAR Arunachal Pradesh Centre Basar, introduced breed of Backyard poultry bird, Vanraja for increasing the production and productivity with minimal effort and care for the Poultry farmers of the region.

rearing of this backyard poultry breed on April 4. Each farmers were provided one
unit of poultry chicks of vanraja/kroiler along with some feeds, vaccine and medicine

Speaking on the occasion, Basar ADC Dr. Sachin Kr Sindhe advised the farmers to carry it on commercial basis. Dr. R.Bhagawati, Joint Director ICAR A.P Centre Basar highlighted the importance of the of Vanraja birds which is introduced for the first time in the region and suggested the farmers to take up poultry activity sincerely and with dedication.
Dr. Doni Jini Scientist, coordinator of the programme, delivered lectures on Vanraja birds, its general management practices, preparation of low cost artificial brooder and other inputs.
Knowledge on different low cost housing and feeding practices, diseases of poultry, preventive and control measures were also imparted to the participating farmers by subject matter specialists (SMS).

During their visit, the team members found that around 50 farmers under the guidance of Kurung Kumey district tea growers association president Bamang Kaich had already started tea plantation without any financial assistance from the Govt.
Expressing satisfaction over the initiative taken by the farmers in this area, the Association said climatic condition in some parts of Kurung Kumey district, particularly Nyapin and Sangram area is favourable for tea plantation.

to encourage the farmers to adopt tea plantation instead of shifting cultivation

ITANAGAR, Apr 6: Alleging absenteeism by various Govt officers and officials posted under Yachuli constituency, the All Yachuli Students Union (AYSU) has urged them to remain in office during office hours.
It alleged that most of the government employees are reluctant to stay in Yachuli which has hampered the development process. It cautioned the absentee officials to report on duties immediately.

some sections of the media yesterday, which claimed of an ‘idea’ of the Center to
offer “maximum autonomy with administrative and financial control” to Nagas including
those living outside Nagaland as an alternative to the demand for creation of a greater
Nagalim. The news-
“We have no objection to autonomy within the territory of Nagaland if the integrity of Arunachal Pradesh is not disturbed,” said Government Spokesperson Nabam Rebia in a statement today.

But we are pained with the reports that they are claiming our three districts as part of the ‘Supra state’. It is encouraging to observe the youths preparing thoroughly to face any objective question that is likely to dominate the papers. But at the same time many dull candidates can be seen loitering around without any fear of failing the rare opportunity. They are perhaps solely dependent on the mercy of their elected leaders. So far Changlang district police under the command of SP Tumme Amo has conducted the process to utmost satisfaction. It is sincerely hoped that the trend will continue. First and foremost, there is astronomical difference between the term Dam and Barrage. There is not a single Dam proposed to be constructed in Tawang, all 13 (yes, it’s Thirteen) are Barrage type projects. When the fact is that 1% Free Power provided to Tawang as Local Area Development Fund accumulates to 46.46 Crores per year. Its apparent that their knowledge on the projects in Tawang is way too far little. We would really appreciate if these godly men can give us factual information on the disadvantages of Barrage project in Tawang rather than just creating a political gimmick out of it. Lama, don't be a drama.

Dear Editor,
I would like to attract the attention of the government towards the corrupt and unfair decisions of the selection committee during the recent recruitment at RGU.
RGU itself said not to entertain any unfair means but during viva-
I was very upset as the selection committee asked me to look for other jobs since my marks in 10th and 12th were good.
I did well in the interview but my fault was that I had good marks academically.
Why did they conduct this interview wasting our money and time?
This shows that they are practicing favourtism and corruption openly in such a sacred place. So, I request the concerned authorities to look after this serious issue, so that it is not repeated in near future.
